In ethics matters, Total Petrochemicals is guided by the Total Group Code of Conduct. This document sets out the basic principles that must be observed by all Total employees in their everyday work: respect for human rights, transparent and equitable business dealings, rejection of all forms of corruption, and respect for their colleagues.
This Code of Conduct is based on a number of reference texts, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations Global Compact, the OECD* Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and the Fundamental Conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Furthermore, an ethics module is always included in basic training programme done by new recruits and existing managers are asked to take the course as well.
Lastly, any Total employee encountering an ethics issue in the course of his or her work may always refer the matter to the Group Ethics Committee.
